Summer 2023 Paving

Summer is our window of opportunity for improving parking areas and campus-owned roads. Not only is warm weather required to allow asphalt to adhere properly; it's also a great time to minimize the "pain factor" for campus drivers by scheduling work that requires road closures to take place when the least amount of people are on campus. Although most campus maintenance is done in-house, paving requires very specific equipment and materials. We book paving services months in advance and hope for good weather to allow vendors to complete projects prior to move-in week.

Please be advised of the following 2023 Campus paving projects beginning on Thursday, May 25 at the John E Thomas Lot (JET). Be prepared to make alternate plans for parking and access in these areas when work is underway between May 25 through the end of July 2023.

Due to the dependency on weather, schedule updates will be posted as new information becomes available:

Holmes Convocation Lot - COMPLETE

will be closed for construction beginning, Wednesday, June 14, 2023
Parking should be available in the John E. Thomas Lot, Hill Street Lot or Rivers Street Lot

Convocation Drive -

will be closed as a thoroughfare beginning, Wednesday, June 14, 2023 and will remain closed for the duration of the construction of the Holmes Parking Deck
Upon completion of the deck, Convocation Drive will be a pedestrian street for emergency access only

John E. Thomas Lot I & John E. Thomas Lot II -

Parking expected to be available on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 - COMPLETE
Four additional spaces will be added at the lot entrance drive plus additional service vehicle parking (accessible from Whitener drive will be scheduled for a later date (TBD). This work is expected to take approximately one week and will impact JET lot access for one day for paving work - IN PROGRESS

Brown Street I - from Locust Street to the top of the hill & Brown Street II - COMPLETE
